At Passion and Purpose Candles and More, by shining a light on Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, we hope to inspire others to take action and together we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by the condition and their support system.
Turning Passions into Purpose
Our Story
As the youngest and only girl in my family, I grew up a daddy’s girl. Always watching attentively as he worked on his home projects. My dad was a very creative and out the box thinker. Looking back now, I would say he was an innovator. Our home always had the coolest features and gadgets that impressed the kids in our neighborhood. After all, what kid do you know of that had a secret trap door to the basement, a outdoor 6 foot pond built with river rocks and an electric train set that folded into the wall and pulled out like a Murphy bed? In 2009, he was diagnosed with vascular dementia. During the years that followed, the projects became fewer and daily activities became a struggle. I watched a creative genius become a shell of all that I had known him to be. This is the reality of dementia and other cognitive diseases. Passion and Purpose Candles and More is in remembrance of my dad and what he passed onto me: discovering the things that you are passionate about and in turn using those gifts for a purpose.
